Want To Partner With a Flipper To Update Sell Your House?

    BySusie Wyshak January 6, 2025December 8, 2025

Is the reward worth the risk of collaborating with a flipper / developer to update an older home in an affluent neighborhood before selling? The idea of transforming a million dollar home into a $3 million property — rather than selling it to someone else who will do just that — is worth exploring. Partnering…

Avoiding a Home Sale Loss (or reframing it into a positive opportunity)

    BySusie Wyshak December 24, 2024December 7, 2025

Need to sell your home and feeling the pain of it potentially not selling for more than what you paid? You’re not alone. The Bay Area real estate market during the pandemic was nothing short of crazy: Interest rates were still relatively low. Buyers were out in droves with FOMO, offering way over asking. The…

The Dangers of Overpricing a Home For Sale in the East Bay

    BySusie Wyshak December 12, 2024December 7, 2025

Compass put together an informative report that shows how overpricing one’s home when going on market almost always has negative ramifications for sellers: Across Bay Area markets, listings that require price reductions before selling consistently take much longer to sell and sell for significantly lower average values than homes priced correctly. The correct calculation of…

    Is home staging really necessary?

    BySusie Wyshak March 29, 2024December 7, 2025

Home staging presents a house for sale in its ideal state — decluttered, clean, and expertly furnished. So YES. Staging and the reality of living in a house have very little in common…unless you’re a modern minimalist. For most of us, especially if we’ve been in the same house for years with many family members,…

Audit Your House Feng Shui Before Staging and Selling Your East Bay House

    BySusie Wyshak November 26, 2022February 9, 2026

There is no shortage of explanations for why houses are sitting on the market and not selling in late 2002. High interest rates Uncertainty about the future The chance of layoffs The prospect of house prices going down Unrealistically high price expectations from sellers Multiple choice! Is bad Feng Shui driving home buyers away? Real…

How does Proposition 19 work to keep a house’s low tax basis?

    BySusie Wyshak February 23, 2022February 16, 2026

California’s Proposition 19 went into effect on April 1, 2021. It’s known as the “The Home Protection for Seniors, Severely Disabled, Families, and Victims of Wildfire or Natural Disasters Act.” The goal of Proposition 19 is to help millions of older homeowners who want to downsize without huge increases in property tax, homeowners with severe…

How Buying or Selling a Home Off-Market Works – That’s how I got my vacation rental!

    BySusie Wyshak November 25, 2021February 16, 2026

Some home owners wanted to sell their property quickly and easily. They mentioned this to my family, who told me. One month later, I had a vacation home property that is truly my second home. This was in Maine, where I hired a lawyer to review documents and take care of the title transfer and…

#Staycation Bay Area style! The great thing about #Staycation Bay Area style!

The great thing about the Bay Area is you literally will never run out of cool things to discover.

To my surprise, I had never been to the Japantown in San Jose, the third in California, along with San Francisco and Los Angeles.

It's just a couple of blocks long and packed with all kinds of adorable Japanese-themed gift shops, the wonderful @manusushi , @royscoffee (which is a must-visit if you love converted gas stations and also vintage Coca-Cola in bottles), and a new French bakery that was mobbed.

My suggestion is to organize a bucket list day where you go to Japantown in San Jose for lunch and Japantown in San Francisco for dinner!

Enjoy! And please comment if we missed anything that we must check out on our next visit.

Instead of using Bay Area-made @guittardchocolate wafers, which I love, I experimented with 46% cocoa oat milk chocolate #berkeleymade by @tchochocolate

Yummmm. It is a delicious dark milk chocolate that melted exactly like dairy milk chocolate. The perfect vegan sweet snack!
