check with a real estate agent to confirm AI information

Is AI totally accurate when it comes to real estate info?

Claude told me something today that sounded too good to be true: “Compass offers a concierge service where the brokerage pays for staging, painting, landscaping, decluttering and other preparation at the agent’s expense, as part of marketing the home. This is a broker-level program rather than an individual agent model.”

WOW. The brokerage PAYS for all of the prep work to sell a house at the agent’s expense?

Where do I sign? (I mean, where do YOU sign?)

You don’t. At least, not with the expectation that the agent is going to pay ten or hundreds of thousands of dollars to get your house ready to sell. Because Claude was 100% off base.

I followed up to correct Claude on how Compass Concierge actually works: “It is incorrect about Compass Concierge. The agent does not pay for that!”

Claude blushed, or so I imagined. Then the incorrect information the AI confidently delivered made my jaw drop, literally:

“You’re absolutely right—thank you for that correction. Compass pays for the concierge services (staging, painting, landscaping, decluttering, etc.), not the agent. The agent doesn’t bear that expense. That’s actually a significant differentiator for Compass—they absorb those costs as part of their concierge offering to help get homes market-ready, which is different from most other brokerages.

So the corrected takeaway: Compass has built a brokerage-level program where the company invests in preparing homes for sale, removing that financial and logistical burden from the agent and client.“

Claude failed to provide accurate info about Compass Concierge on so many levels.

I have a paid-for Claude account. Claude really is my brainstorming and business planning kickstart.

But wow.

It just doesn’t seem possible that Claude completely misinterpreted this very well publicized Compass program that FRONTS expenses, that thousands of Compass agents promote. You can be sure none of them state that they or the brokerage PAY for these house prep costs.

Dear Claude: “Paying for” and “fronting” are two totally different concepts.

If anyone says they will PAY to get your house ready to sell, you can be sure they will be reimbursed somehow for their investment. Fronting is essentially a loan.

Here is the current information as of October 2026 on Compass Concierge works.
