Consulting

Caveat about this page: It is in progress…Please contact me at susiew at gmail if you’d like to discuss a project or how I might be able to help you.

In 2010 my big, exciting focus is on Artisan Food Concierge Services and Artisan Food Producer Consulting – which go hand in hand. Please leap over here for more info.

I’m known as a renaissance person.

Sometimes called the ideal early stage startup employee / entrepreneur.

I love and am great at wearing lots of hats.

There are a few ways I’ve helped companies and non-profits over the years. I will connect you with other people who can help you, if I can’t. That’s my commitment, to try anyway!

Search Engine Optimization

Why does my name appear SO many times on this website? Sad but true – because it’s a simple way to make your website appear higher in search results. There are various factors about how to do it right, but the main reason I got the domain susiewyshak.com was after seeing all of those “other” websites that claimed to have accurate information about me.

A few key points about SEO are:

  • Your search engine optimization needs to be part of your website architecture plan, not an afterthought when it comes to writing content.
  • It’s easy to make a few quick tweaks to increase your ranking in search engines.
  • Learning the rules yourself is better than fully outsourcing so you or your writers can follow best practices ongoing.

I can help you with your “SEO” too!

Social Media

Have you ever heard of Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Do you ever NOT hear of them?

Especially now that Google is indexing tweets that show up in searches, Twitter is more powerful than ever. Facebook..well I don’t need to repeat why it’s good to have a page there for your business (perhaps).

But there’s also a world of other ways to connect with your target audience and create a viral effect ongoing – both through integration on your website as well as by putting it out there.

Writing Content & Docs

Much of my early career was in marketing communications and I’ve always been a closet Don Draper / Darren Stevens. Good advertising and clever, short engaging copy thrills me.

Writing FAQs and help manuals – as well as tips and tricks – are actually fun for me! I wrote everything, except some articles, that you see on SuperViva.com.

Setting up support and bug tracking systems and working with customers is yet another joy.

Business Development and Account Management

Working with clients and partners from the point of identifying opportunities to collaborating to arrive at mutually beneficial solutions – and having fun all the while!

I have lots of references about how effective and helpful my advice and guidance is as well as how my enthusiastic attitude inspires, especially if you have a 1 or 2 person business.

Website and Blog Consulting (from Small Biz to Big)

Over the years I’ve helped numerous people and companies strategize and produce new websites and web applications, take advantage of social media (blogs, social networks, online communities, video etc), and achieve their various Internet-related business goals.

My credo is to “teach you to fish” rather than keeping knowledge to myself. Whether it’s a tutorial or learn by doing, I’ll make sure that, if you want to, you can maintain whatever we create by yourself.

Here are ways I can help:

Planning: Strategize and brainstorm on whether you need a website, blog, both, or neither—depending on what you hope to accomplish in the short and long term. And how those fit in with your overall business, social media and communications strategy.

For example this blog runs on an installed WordPress, which I decided to do after evaluating all the possible blogging options. Contact me if you want to know my thought process (for example blogging on WordPress.com has its pros and cons vs. installing your own WordPress blog).

Creating:
Do the work setting up whatever it is you need, writing content, organizing newsletters etc.

Or simply be there to give you feedback and guide you as a “master mind” second brain.

Project Management:
It’s a dirty job but someone’s got to do it, and I’ve managed a LOT of creative, web, and other projects involving teams both small and large, local and remote.

Improving:
Usability analysis, opportunities for revenue generation, search engine optimization (SEO), and accessibility analysis.

Promoting:
Plan and implement a program for you to reach your desired audience, grow your business cost-effectively through Facebook and customer engagement sites like Get Satisfaction as well as social networks that make sense.

Productivity Tools Setup & Training

What do you need to achieve? A few tools I depend on to get things done, and can help you set up, include:

  • Google DocsSpreadsheets with forms, you can use for surveys, as website forms, or even to track your expenses.
  • Zoho.com which offers many apps similar to Google Docs and a lot more.
  • SurveyMonkey is a classic very full featured free survey tool.
  • Shape Collage – To quickly make a fun photo collage for any purpose.

And might I suggest Moleskine notebooks and a charcoal pencil – still a fabulous way to brainstorm, make daily checklists, and take notes in a way that inspires creativity.
